Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it a family: Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one.

The days go slow and the years fly by.
When my firstborn was earthside and home, my husband and I would spend our evenings looking at the pictures we had taken of the child we had just put to bed. With two littles now running our lives, we find less time but every once in awhile we’ll sit on the couch after their bedtime and just go through pictures of the past. There’s something about seeing them, not while they’re by my side whining or sitting on my lap reading or playing with each other, but frozen in a single moment. It’s like blinders come off and I suddenly see how big they are getting or how they look more like a kid than a toddler, more like a toddler than a baby. And I wonder how that happened. How I can spend so much time with them and not notice the changes to their faces, the wisdom in their eyes. I am always so grateful to have those pictures. To have proof of us growing together.
